In Memory of F. A. v. Hayek – 20th anniversary of his death
On March 23rd, the 20th anniversary of Hayek’s death will take place and therefore the Hayek Institute is organizing an essay competition in honor of his legacy.
“Top ten reasons why Hayek is more relevant today than ever before”
Hayek once said: “”Emergencies” have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded.” Seldom has this been more relevant than in today’s world with regards to Europe´s current economic situation. Many people and almost all the politicians may blame the crisis on free markets or the “neoliberal” mindset. However, the true cause of the current crisis is nothing other than the ever increasing government intervention in the former free markets.
Therefore, we ask you to give us your opinion on the current crisis. Who deserves the blame and how can we fix it? Why do we need more of Hayek’s ideas instead of less? And how would Hayek solve the current crisis?
In short, tell us the “Top ten reasons why Hayek is more relevant today than ever before”?
Why should you participate?
The best ten submissions will be published on our website and the winner will be allowed to join us for one stop during the Free Market Road Show* with expenses covered (flight + hotel).
If wished, the winner will also be allowed to speak on one of the panels.Fact sheet:
