2nd Meeting of the Expert Group “Kapitalmarkt und Wertpapiere!” with Neven Vidaković

Following the successful kick-off in May, the second meeting of the Expert Group “Kapitalmarket & Wertpapiere” took place at the Hayek Institute on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. After introductory remarks by OeNB Vice President, President of the Hayek Institute and patron of the expert group Barbara Kolm and moderation by Mario Micheli, Croatian investor and economist Neven Vidaković, PHD, presented his personal view on the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve Bank and the European Central Bank and its impact on government bond markets.

How to short a Country

Pointedly and quite critically, Mr. Vidaković, PHD, assessed the ECB’s interest rate policy and the consequences he believes will be seen in the near future on the government bond markets in Germany, Italy and France. Dr. Vidakovic, who is also known as the “George Soros” of Croatia, was more positive about the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy. The investor, who calls himself the last of the independents, explained why he sees dark clouds gathering on the horizon of Europe and why he expects imminent speculative attacks on the government bond markets of the largest EU countries.
