Every year, the Tax Foundation, a nonprofit tax research organization, computes Tax Freedom Day for the nation as a whole and for each state. Dates vary across states due to differences in tax policy.
According to this year’s report, Tax Freedom Day 2013 for the nation is April 18th — five days later than last year. The size and rapid growth of the federal government hampers economic opportunities in Alabama and tax reform at the federal level is essential to restoring growth and economic freedom in our state.
The AEC’s fundamental goal is to promote a free, responsible and prosperous society. Through education and improving public understanding of key economic questions, the AEC promotes the idea of a free market economy and the ideal of a free society.
